Arts and Culture Strategy Development (2026-2031)
The City of Langford has partnered with Arts and Culture Consultants, Patricia Huntsman Culture + Communication, to develop a comprehensive Arts and Culture Strategy for the years 2026-2031.
Developing an Arts and Culture Strategy, as it is identified in the 2023-2027 Council Strategic Plan, will help to further strengthen Langford’s resilient and diverse economy, while demonstrating the City’s reputation as a leader in the sector for the Province. As the third fastest growing municipality in Canada, the City of Langford is in a unique position to engage in an Arts and Culture Strategy development process and further diversify the economy.
The Arts and Culture Strategy will serve as a framework for Langford’s future vision for arts and culture, solidifying Langford as a destination for the arts and an inclusive place that celebrates and showcases diverse cultures. Additionally, the Placemaking Strategy, set to be completed alongside the Arts and Culture Strategy by Q1 2026, will integrate arts and culture insights, with the consulting firm contributing to the communications and engagement efforts for both strategies.
To develop this Strategy, we want to understand the community’s priorities for arts, culture, and placemaking and learn about how the City can support the current and future efforts to showcase and promote the arts and culture in Langford. We will be engaging the broader Langford Community in through a series of creative-based activities, passive engagement tools and visioning exercises. We encourage members of the public to follow the City on social media, and sign up to Let's Chat Langford for public engagement opportunity notifications, surveys, project updates, and timelines.
Completion Target
The Arts and Culture Strategy is on track for completion by Q1 2026, and the consulting firm is actively working to deliver a plan that supports Langford's growth and enhances its arts and culture scene.
