Help Shape the Future of Transportation in Langford!

The City of Langford is creating two new plans to shape the future of transportation in Langford and wants to hear from you! These plans are the Transportation Master Plan (TMP) and the Active Transportation Plan (ATP). Both plans are identified as specific objectives in the 2023-2027 Council Strategic Plan.

These plans build on the engagement work that was undertaken as part of the City’s
Official Community Plan refresh. Community members highlighted the need for the City to address traffic congestion and provide more mobility options. They also identified several barriers to active transportation and expressed a strong desire for increased walkability, accessibility, and connectivity.

The Transportation Master Plan will be Langford’s first official guide for long-term planning and development of the city’s transportation network.

The *Active Transportation Plan will be developed alongside the TMP and will focus on providing greater choices for walking, rolling, and cycling around the community. An ATP will help to reduce the growing pressure and congestion on the existing road network.

*Active transportation refers to any form of human-powered transportation, including walking, cycling, or rolling using a wheelchair, skateboard, in-line skates, or other wheel-based forms of human-powered transportation.

To ensure these plans reflect the community’s needs and priorities, the City is engaging with community members throughout the plan development process. Your input in this survey will help the City understand how residents travel around Langford, as well as existing challenges, barriers, and opportunities for improving the transportation network. Please note, the survey closes at the end of day Wednesday, April 2, 2025.

  • Responses to this survey will help inform both the Transportation Master Plan and the Active Transportation Plan.

The Transportation Master Plan will be Langford’s first official guide for long-term planning and development of the city’s transportation network. This plan’s focus is the road (vehicle) network, intersections, and safety and the general pedestrian and cycling network.

The *Active Transportation Plan will be developed alongside the TMP and will focus on providing greater choices for walking, rolling, and cycling around the community. This plan looks to identify more than networks, but the elements of the Active Transportation networks that are needed to support modal choice.  An ATP will help to reduce the growing pressure and congestion on the existing road network.

*Active transportation refers to any form of human-powered transportation, including walking, cycling, or rolling using a wheelchair, skateboard, rollerblade, or other wheel-based forms of human-powered transportation.
